As a specialist in innovative edge and cloud solutions, German Edge Cloud (GEC) ensures that data in networked environments is available quickly, easily, and securely. GEC integrates and operates hybrid private edge cloud infrastructures from Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to Platform as a Service (PaaS) and industry-specific applications in the Software as a Service (SaaS) model. The company supports process optimization using data analytics, in the manufacturing industry for example, and guarantees its customers full data sovereignty for connections to the public or private cloud.

 

The mission of German Edge Cloud consists of two parts:

• GEC brings industrial edge-cloud computing to the factory to increase qualitative and quantitative output (OEE) and production flexibility.

For the development of industrial dataspaces, we are involved in cloud infrastructure projects such as GAIA-X and CATENA-X.

 

The company is a subsidiary of the Friedhelm Loh Group and has already implemented its solutions at the Industry 4.0 plant of its sister company Rittal in Haiger. In cooperation with industry and research partners, GEC develops solutions that are simple and quick to deploy, enabling customers across industries to solve digitalization challenges more effectively and achieve a new level of digital value creation.

As a founding member of the GAIA-X project, German Edge Cloud is aiming to create interoperable platform solutions with lock-in minimization from the customer’s perspective. The edge cloud data center ONCITE has so-called GAIA-X-compliant connector software and is intended to promote the development of a secure European data infrastructure when used by customers.
